Reflecting on SuiteWorld: Key Takeaways from the MineralTree Team

Now that the team has recovered from SuiteWorld, we’re ready to share our takeaways! Overall it was an exciting conference, and the best part was catching up with customers and meeting new teams who can benefit from MineralTree’s AP automation solutions.

Three major themes we heard throughout the conference: 

AI in AP automation

Just about everything was AI-powered or AI-led, but what does that mean exactly? While AI and AI agents can make our jobs easier, it’s not necessarily a cure all. Though AI is often positioned as the main attraction, it’s actually more about WHAT AI enables that’s the real value — it’s not a replacement, but an augmentation. This can look like automating accounts payable processes, from invoice capture to data extraction, to reporting and predictive analytics.

Blending automation and human insight in AP workflows

Because businesses receive invoices in a few ways, from email and physical mail to faxes, they often mean a lot of manual data entry.

MineralTree will soon be releasing its Smart Capture solution for general availability. This tool is a good example of using human-in-the-loop to offset some of this manual work. This new solution transforms invoice workflows, capturing and coding invoices in 90 minutes or less, while maintaining the 99% accuracy we’re known for with human-in-the-loop validation. Smart Capture will improve over time, using machine-learning to continually boost accuracy. 

Once captured, invoices can be routed online for review and approval from anywhere, using your preferred approval rules, routing logic and best practices. With MineralTree, approvers don’t need login credentials to the automation tool or ERP systems. Instead, approvals can be sent automatically to their email, where executives can easily approve payments from the road, at the office, or during a meeting. 

The solution even assigns your default coding to invoices, completely eliminating manual invoice entry and saving your AP staff valuable time that they can spend on more valuable work. 

Supporting payment flexibility with AP automation

Another hot topic at our booth was payment flexibility. MineralTree helps streamline the entire AP process with invoice capture and coding, automated approval routing, and flexible payments. With our direct debit model, you can seamlessly pay bills from your existing bank accounts, without having to link or fund a settlement account. From there, your business can use ACH, wire, check, or even virtual cards that protect against fraud and generate cash-back rebates and discounts.  

Virtual card payments are free, secure, and can generate a revenue stream through something you’re doing anyway — paying your vendors. A virtual card is a randomly-generated 16-digit number, or “token,” that can only be charged one time for a specified amount. Virtual cards are delivered to your vendors via email, and are processed just like a credit card. MineralTree SilverPay is the fastest way to pay your vendors, with delivery to your vendor’s inbox within hours of approval.

A streamlined invoice-to-pay process increases the efficiency of AP teams and helps strengthen vendor relationships while mitigating fraud risk. It also provides greater visibility and control over AP spend, while a direct debit model simplifies bank reconciliation.

Improving the invoice approval process also removes manual processes and saves time for AP team members, who were previously tasked with chasing down approvers. Instead of manually following up, AP team members know that MineralTree sends automatic reminders to all invoice approvers to ensure they approve their invoices on time.

It’s Copper’s world, and we’re just living in it 

The team had a blast at our booth — shout out to the dozens of customers who stopped by! Visitors were greeted with conference survival kits, which were packed with everything needed to survive the dry Vegas heat. They also had the opportunity to adopt MineralTree mascot Copper — we’d love seeing him represented throughout the conference!

Another popular offering was our Optimization Sessions, which took place between existing customers and the MineralTree team. An optimization session is a 30-minute meeting with the customer team and MineralTree where we review their technical set-up between NetSuite and MineralTree and fine-tune the configuration. These sessions provide a little extra complimentary 1:1 training and help customers uncover new ways to add additional efficiencies to their AP automation processes.

To cap off the event, the team enjoyed a delicious dinner with customers and future customers at Nobu. Attendees described it as more than just a conference event, but a curated experience where they could get to know their peers and the MineralTree team over an amazing meal.
