Hooked on Startups: CFO Bill Price on MineralTree and Innovation
Bill Price, CFO at MineralTree was one of four CFOs profiled in a recent piece by David Katz in CFO entitled, “Hooked on Startups.” The article explores the role of the CFO at different emerging tech companies, including MineralTree, and can be found in the February issue of CFO Magazine.
As a finance veteran with more than three decades of experience under his belt, Bill shares his unique experience working at an emerging technology company like MineralTree, and why he prefers working at a smaller company. Bill explains that one great aspect of being CFO at MineralTree is that “everyone at our company is doing original work. There’s no such things as a pure manager at MineralTree.” For Bill, this means the opportunity to get involved in areas outside of the traditional role of a finance chief, like the company’s strategic growth plans.
As the startup landscape continues to grow, a new breed of CFO is emerging – one that is eager to reap the rewards of fresh beginnings and a fast-growing environment. The CFO at any company is integral to an organization’s leadership team, but finance chiefs that find themselves immersed in the emerging tech world often end up spearheading critical company projects and working hand-in-hand with their CEOs to influence every department.
